GENERAL INFORMATION

Molecules chain of thickening rheological additive BK-C953 has been modified by hydrophobic groups, and the hydrophobic modified alkali soluble emulsion thickening additive can be used as a first choice thickening additive or associative thickening additive for water-based coatings. BK-C953 can effectively improve the middle shear (Kreb Stormer) viscosity at relatively low dosage. Compared with using high molecular cellulose thickening additive, choose BK-C953 as thickening additive alone can improve flowablility and leveling of coatings.

INCORPORATIONS & RECOMMENDED LEVELS

Dosage, the general dosage of thickening rheological additive BK-C953 is 0.5~1. 5% on latex paint, due to its viscosity form by association, water content, surfactant, pigments, fillings and the varieties and proportion of emulsion all have influence on viscosity.

Usage, according to formula if necessary, one part of thickening rheological additive can be directly added into the grinding components without influence on its performance, the other part is used to post-adjustment after grinding process. Diluted with water to two times the size of the original, adding additives with stir slowly until reach the required viscosity. Thickening rheological additive BK-C953 has thickening effect under the condition of greater than or equal to PH 8.5. PH adjustment is available by alkaline substances such as ammonia and organic amine. The thickening rheological additive BK-C953 can be used together with bentonite, hydroxyethyl cellulose, and the traditional acrylic thickening additive, to develop the characteristics of different material, meet the requirements of all kinds of shear viscosity.

Adding a small amount of surfactant or ethylene glycol ethers cosolvent to reduce low shearing viscosity(Brookfield), can change the rheological properties of BK-C953, further improve the flowability and leveling of coatings.

SAFETY DATA & STORAGE

BK-C953 thickening rheological additive emulsion has mild stimulation to sensitive skin and eyes, should avoid couching directly. In places where may touch the additives, should be equipped with washing facilities, all handling work should be done in a well-ventilated place.

BK-C953 thickening rheological additive emulsion should dealing with stainless steel or plastic utensils for it has certain interaction with steel, copper and brass.
